 The Iguazú Falls are within the Nacional Park of Iguazú, created in 1934 in the province of Misiones, to the northeast of the country, in its limit with Brazil. The 67,620 hectares of the park were declared Patrimony of the Humanity in 1984. The park lodges a subtropical forest with a native flora of 2000 species between which we found ferns, bromelias, orquídeas, and enormous trees with trepadoras enredaderas of all class and fruits that attract all type of wild animals. Between the most important trees they are the paranaense cedar, aguay and ceibo, in this last one arises the flower standard of Argentina. The fauna which we found in the Park Nacional Iguazú consists of 450 species of birds between which we found toucans, teros, parrots, magpies and their exclusive billhooks; 80 species of mammals between which it emphasizes the famous Yaguareté and an incredible variety of colorful insects. The countless water obstacles that cross the park are inhabited by a set of species between which the jacares stand out.
200,000 years ago, in the intersection of the rivers Iguazú and Parana they arose, imposing and solemn, the Cataracts of the Iguazú. The channel of the Parana river, crossed by a geologic fault, produced that the opening of the Iguazú was in a waterfall from 80 meters of height.
From that place, to where nowadays the Throat of the Devil begins (the fall more impressive pronouncing and of the cataracts) are 23 meters that must to the erosion produced by the hypermighty collapse of the river through the time.
The resounding water block that crosses the air is formed hundreds of small jumps. The number of jumps oscillates between 160 and 260, according to the volume of the river. Since there are saying, the greatest and high jump is the Throat of the Devil. With a waterfall of 1500 cubic meters per second, a unique and extraordinary landscape can be appreciated; simply one is a vertical river.
The uproarious collapse does that the shout of the river reaches stops decibeles and produces a constant mist that surrounds to us, dunks to us and it surrounds to us by fantastic rainbow that does not need to promise treasures. Paradoxicalally, to stop itself to contemplate the Throat of the Devil installs to us in the middle of the paradise. From the viewpoint we can contemplate the majesty of cascades in all its splendor, surrounded by a gigantic subtropical forest with a beautiful climate throughout the year.
